Singer-songwriter Moira dela Torre has finally broken her silence after being tagged as a “third party” in the 2025 breakup of actor Sam Milby and his ex-fiancée, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
Sam was once a close friend to Moira, who affectionately referred to the actor as kuya.
During an exclusive “Real Talk” interview with PEP.ph at the Academy of Rock in Quezon City on September 17, Moira directly addressed the long-standing rumors and opened up about her current relationship with Sam. The 16-minute interview took place right after her press conference for her upcoming major concert, “Where It All Started,” scheduled at the Mall of Asia Arena on October 4, 2026.
When asked about her current standing with Sam and whether they have patched things up, Moira admitted to missing her former friend.
“Hindi, e… nami-miss ko po yung kuya ko,” she shared. “Siyempre, naiinis po akong nadawit pa ako doon. Hindi naman po totoo yun, e.”
Reflecting on how she ended up entangled in the split, Moira expressed confusion over the accusations.
“Hindi po talaga. Iba po yung ma-issue ka sa ibang lalaki. Pero yung mai-issue ka sa kuya mo, medyo… parang hindi ko po alam kung bakit,” she explained.
When asked why she thought people linked her to the split, she simply added, “Hindi ko rin po alam. Hindi ko rin po alam.”
Moira firmly denied playing any role in the high-profile breakup.
“Walang katotohanan. Hindi po ako third party kay Kuya Sam at kay Cat,” Moira emphasized. “Alam ko po yung nangyari sa kanilang dalawa, but that’s not my story to tell. And I will protect them. At wala rin pong third party sa kanilang dalawa, at hindi rin po ako ang third party sa kanilang dalawa.”
The fallout from the issue ultimately affected their friendship. When asked if she chose to distance herself, Moira confirmed that she did following a public statement Sam made in an interview with ABS-CBN News on February 18, 2025, where he declared that they were no longer friends.
“Opo, kasi nagpa-interview po siya, e. Hindi na kami friends,” Moira revealed, admitting that the public fallout deeply hurt her. “Opo, nasaktan po ako. Opo.”
Moira confessed that she cried over the end of their friendship, which came during a challenging period in her personal life.
Meanwhile, after taking a nearly two-year hiatus from major concerts to navigate personal and career hurdles—including her own separation, an ongoing annulment process, and personal struggles—Moira is set to make her return to the big stage.
Fans can expect performances of her biggest hits, including “Malaya,” “Paubaya,” “Tagpuan,” and “Tagu-Taguan,” at her fourth major concert. The concert will also feature guest performances by Ogie Alcasid, Adie, Johnoy Danao, December Avenue, and additional surprise guests. (With reports from PEP.ph)
