MANILA – Negrense boxers Roger Ladon and James Palicte delivered a gold medal each in boxing at the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum in Pasay City.
Bago City, Negros Occidental’s Ladon captured the flyweight gold by defeating Thai’s Ammarit Yaodam while Palicte ruled the light welterweight class with a unanimous decision win over Vietnam’s Nguyen Van Hai.
Carlo Paalam netted a gold medal in men’s light flyweight division.
Josie Gabuco won a gold in women’s light flyweight while Irish Magno settled for silver medal in the women’s flyweight.
Ilonggo Phillip Delarmino and Ariel Lee Lampacan earned two tough victories, respectively, to win gold in the muay thai competition, while Jenelyn Olsim, Islay Erika Bomogao and Ryan Jakiri ended with silvers each.
In archery, Paul Marton dela Cruz and wife Rachelle secured a gold medal in the mixed team event.
Meggie Ochoa and Carlo Pena added a gold each in jiu jitsu while Jamie Lim also netted a gold medal in women’s kumite.
Natalie Uy set a new SEA Games record in women’s pole vault. She cleared 4.25 meters.
Willie Morrison erased the biennial
meet’s record in shot put with his 18.38 meters throw.
Sarah Dequinan became the first Filipina since Elma Muros in 2011 to capture
the SEA Games gold in heptathlon after topping the seven-discipline event with
5,101 points.
Kristina Knott failed to clinch the gold in 100-meter dash with her second place finish but was able to nab the 4×100 mixed relay gold with Eric Cray, Eloiza Luzon and Anfernee Lopena.
Mariano Masano settled for silver in men’s 1,500-meter event.
Taekwondo jin Pauline Lopez bagged the women’s -57kg division gold by outlasting Aliza Chhoen of Cambodia, 12-4, while Dave Cea and Samuel Morrison also delivered gold in lightweight and welterweight category, respectively.
Adven Alcantara, Kristopher Uy, Laila Delo, and Kirstie Elaine Alora, meanwhile, settled for silver medals in taekwondo.

Swimmer James Deiparine settled for silver in 50-meter breaststroke while Chloe Isleta, Jasmine Alkhaldi, Remedy Rule and Desirae Mangaoang placed second in 4×100 medley.
Alkhaldi also had a silver medal in singles.
Kemberly Kamahalan, Allaine Cortey, Queen Dalmacio, and Jylyn Nicanor won a bronze in fencing team sabre, same goes with men’s ice hockey team and men’s and women’s traditional dragon boat race./PN
