Negrense taekwondo jins impress in online speed kicking tourney

MANILA – Taekwondo jins from the Negros Taekwondo Union-Tigers New Gen had a remarkable showing during the 2020 Smart/MVP Sports Foundation Online National Taekwondo Speed Kicking Championships.
Francine Launio spearheaded the Negros Occidental-based taekwondo stable’s attack with a gold medal finish in the elementary red belt free kicking and bronze medal in kickpad. Christelle Avanceña, meanwhile, captured the bronze of the the blue belt cadet free kicking.

The other bronze medal notchers for the stable were Alexander Marañon, Manuel Machado, Ianne Treyes, and Leigh Andee Rodriguez.

Antique TKD, on the other hand, earned a gold medal from Julliene Umitten in kickpad red female cadet and bronze medals from Zeny Lyn Dybuco, Scott Ashton Demafiles and Zhyra Perez.

Venancio Taekwondo Academy Capiz, for its part, hauled three bronze medals courtesy of Allyah Eusalan in black female senior light-heavy, Chleann Levi Robles in yellow male toddler and Joshua Lopez in red male cadet.

Team Phikoma Cadiz, another Negros Occidental-based squad, also grabbed medals in the tournament. The stable won two bronze medals via Dave Capalad in brown male junior and Loren Joy De Leon in black female junior fin-bantam.

The online taekwondo tournament was the second one organized by Smart/MVP Sports Foundation following the successful National Online Poomsae Taekwondo Championships last month./PN
