MAJA SALVADOR dismissed any notion of competition among the cast of the upcoming ABS-CBN drama “Someone, Someday,” saying the set was built on teamwork despite sharing emotionally charged scenes with Kathryn Bernardo and the rest of the ensemble.
During her solo press conference on Friday, July 17, Salvador was asked whether there was any “sapawan,” or scene-stealing, on set given the series’ intense confrontations and Bernardo’s status as one of the country’s most bankable stars.
“Again, ‘yung set namin is very collaborative. And my co-actors are very generous,” she said. “Hindi pinapaandar kunwari ‘yung ego, o mas sikat ako, o mas ganyan.”
Salvador also praised Bernardo’s leadership on set, describing the actress as the “captain” of the show.
“Si Kath ang captain ng show namin. At sobrang okay siyang leader. Dahil talagang, ‘Okay, let’s do this.’ Very collaborative. Very okay ‘yung atmosphere namin sa set,” Salvador said.
“Kaya, walang sapawan. May kanya-kanya kaming mga eksena. May kanya-kanya kaming mga moments. At ‘pag ibibigay naman yun sa’yo, i-grab mo talaga ‘yung opportunity na ‘yun,” she added.
“Someone, Someday” marks Salvador’s return to primetime television after her last teleserye in 2022. She took a break from acting after getting married and becoming a mother.
The actress admitted it took some adjustment to return to work but said motherhood has given her a deeper perspective as a performer.
“After giving birth, eto po ‘yung first show na gagawin ko. So n’ung bumalik at nag-work ako, nandoon ‘yung nagugulat ako sa sarili ko na may gan’ung hugot na,” she said.
The seasoned actress also revealed that she and her husband, Rambo Nuñez, are hoping to have a second child next year.
Salvador likewise confirmed that all of her upcoming projects will now be with ABS-CBN after her brief stint with TV5.
In “Someone, Someday,” Salvador plays Abi Mercado, a complex character who begins as the number one fan of Bernardo’s Billy before becoming her rival.
The series teases Abi as an obsessive admirer who secretly stalks Billy, while also portraying her as a devoted daughter caring for her abusive and ailing mother.
The series, which is set to premiere on July 24 on Netflix, also stars James Reid, Dimples Romana, Rowell Santiago, McCoy De Leon, Daniela Stranner, Rita Avila, and newcomer Migz Casimiro. It is directed by Chad V. Vidanes and Dolly Dulu. (Jessica Ann Evangelista © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
