PHILIPPINE cash remittances sustained their growth in January this year after rising 3.5 percent year-on-year, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reported on Monday, March 16.
Data from the central bank showed that remittances coursed through banks reached $3.02 billion at the start of the year, up from $2.92 billion in the same month in 2025.
The pace of growth was slightly faster than the 3.3-percent expansion recorded in December.
Personal remittances, meanwhile, also grew 3.5 percent to $3.36 billion from $3.24 billion a year earlier.
The United States remained the top source of cash remittances to the Philippines, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia. (Nyah Genelle C. De Leon © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
