ILOILO City – A farmer allegedly set ablaze their own house in Barangay Bita Norte, Oton, Iloilo on New Year’s eve.
Razed to the ground was the house of 43-year-old Richard Magbanua, police said.
From what the Oton police gathered so far, Richard, who was believed to be drunk, and his wife had a heated altercation around 6 p.m.
Minutes later, Richard allegedly torched their house made of light materials.
Firefighters were no longer able to respond to the incident as the house was already burned down when they were alerted.
The estimated cost of damage reached at P27,000.
Officers of the municipal police station were able to arrest the suspect, who faces an arson charge./PN
