ROXAS City – The provincial government of Capiz will give a total of P10.9 million to around 5,000 farmers whose farmlands were devastated due to the floods that tropical depression “Agaton” triggered.
This was agreed during a Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) meeting that Gov. Antonio del Rosario conducted on Tuesday.
Del Rosario, who is also the PDRRMC chairman, said the assistance fund is almost equal to 50 percent of the 2017 Quick Response Fund, which is P22.5 million.
The assistance fund, however, will only be given to farmers in municipalities that were palced under a state of calamity.
These towns were Panitan, Pontevedra and Sigma.
According to Provincial Agriculturist Sylvia dela Cruz, each storm-affected farmer may receive P2,175. /PN
