ILOILO City — The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized P25.5 million worth of shabu and arrested 182 individuals suspected of drug trafficking in a series of operations conducted over two weeks across Western Visayas.
From September 1 to 15, a total of 134 drug operations were carried out by various police stations, leading to the recovery of 3,750 grams of shabu. The operations saw significant drug busts in multiple provinces, including:
* Negros Occidental, where the highest volume of drugs was confiscated, totaling P8.18 million, representing 32.03% of the total seizures
* Iloilo Province, with drugs worth approximately P4.56 million seized
* Iloilo City, where P4.13 million worth of illegal substances were recovered
Additional contributions to the crackdown came from police units in Aklan (four arrests), Antique (three arrests), Capiz (seven arrests), Guimaras (two arrests), and Bacolod City (29 arrests), with the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 recovering substances in 11 separate incidents.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of PRO-6, commended the unit commanders for their efforts in these significant drug recoveries and arrests.
He emphasized the crucial role of community support in these operations, acknowledging the public’s vigilance and cooperation in reporting suspicious activities.
“The relentless support from the community has been vital in leading to these arrests,” said Wanky. “We remain committed to purging our streets of the menace posed by illegal drugs and urge everyone to continue aiding in our campaign.”
The individuals arrested during these operations are currently detained and face charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
