ILOILO City – Suspected shabu worth around P70,000 were seized during a police antidrug operation in Barangay Quintin Salas, Jaro district yesterday.

Three drug pushing suspects were arrested:

* Kyle Brian Siva, 18, of Barangay Buhang, Jaro

* John Bantiles, 34, of Alta Tierra Village, Jaro

* Joji Diaz, 28, of Barangay Manggoya, Cabatuan, Iloilo

They sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer for P1,000 at around 2:50 p.m., according to Superintendent Rogen Morales, chief of the Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU).

Twelve more plastic packs of the same substance contained in a cigarette box were seized from them, plus three disposable lighters, a digital weighing scale and a rolled aluminum foil.

Siva – the subject of the operation – claimed he was just a courier of the substance. He identified his source only as “Dela Cruz” of Bacolod City.

After a series of operations in Iloilo that led to the seizure of drugs either bound for or from Negros Occidental, police were zeroing in on a drug syndicate operating in the latter province.

All three suspects were detained at the Jaro police station. They face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“Our asset was able to transact with Siva and his two companions. They are new players and perhaps members of a drug group in Bacolod City,” said Morales.

The suspects face a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Morales said Siva’s brother Gino was detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology prison facility in Barangay Ungka, Jaro for a drug case./PN
