Pa, daughter nabbed in buy-bust

ILOILO – In a joint anti-drug operation by law enforcement, a father and his daughter were apprehended yesterday morning in Barangay Damo-ong, Janiuay.

The suspects were identified as Richard “Bukaw” Poblacion, 45, a mechanic and a resident of Barangay Don T Lutero East, Janiuay, and his only daughter, Rowie Joy, 24, a student who is residing in Barangay Damo-ong.

They yielded more or less 12 grams of the illegal substance, with a street value of P100,800. Authorities also recovered the buy-bust money amounting to P2,100.

The operation around 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, was initiated following coordination between Janiuay Municipal Police Station, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 6.

In a radio interview, Richard denied introducing his child to illegal drugs, while Rowie Joy admitted to having picked up the vice from her peers. She also expressed her willingness to cooperate with the authorities and undergo rehabilitation.

It has been learned that Rowie Joy’s mother is an overseas Filipino worker in Singapore who is set to return home this month./PN
