CAPIZ – A 34-year-old man died and his nine-year-old son was injured when their motorcycle collided with a tricycle in Barangay Poblacion, Tapaz, Capiz, yesterday morning, April 25.
Rex Landar Jimenez and his son alias “Toto” were residents of Barangay San Vicente in the said town.
Jimenez had a fatal head injury. Alias “Toto”, meanwhile, had two broken legs after the bus ran over him. The minor victim is curently being treated at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Rocer Garde, investigator of Tapaz municipal police, said Jimenez attempted to overtake a passenger bus but accidentally hit the tricycle traveling in the opposite direction.
Closed-circuit television camera footage showed Jimenez speeding, added Garde.
Meanwhile, the tricycle driver fled after the incident.
