MARTIN del Rosario, Christian Bables, and Paolo Ballesteros caused a commotion when they walked the red carpet during the premiere night of “The Panti Sisters.”
They top-billed the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019 entry “The Panti Sisters,” which will be screened in cinemas nationwide from Sept. 13-19.
Directed by Jun Robles Lana, “The Panti Sisters” is about three gay sons. They are called back by their estranged and terminally-ill father Don Emilio (played by John Arcilla). Don Emilio offers a P300 million inheritance in exchange for the son who can give him a grandchild.
After the red-carpet screening, the three lead stars surprised audiences by singing Donna Cruz’s 1998 hit, “I Can.”
They also asked viewers to stay behind for a surprise at the end of the credits.
The characters of Paolo Ballesteros and Martin del Rosario had a falling out in the past because they both fell in love with the same guy (portrayed by Joross Gamboa).
“The Panti Sisters” is Graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board and rated PG by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
Paolo Ballesteros said about his character, “Ako si Gabriel Panti, ako yung pinakamatanda nilang kapatid at ako ang pinakabakla.” His character dress up in drag and performs at a club.
According to Paolo, he designed his own gown and had it sewn by a dressmaker that he knows.
Christian Bables said about his character, “Ako si Samuel Panti, isa akong baklang kanal.” In the movie, he declares that his character is the “Reyna ng Tondo.”
Paolo Ballesteros turned to Christian and asked him to describe his character that night. To this, Christian replied, “Baklang gorgeous.”
Martin del Rosario said about his character, “Ako si Daniel Panti. ako yung sweetest Panti na isang K-pop fan. Yung mga K-pop fans, makaka-relate.”
Carmi Martin is cast as the legal wife of John Arcilla’s character. She is the mother of the characters of Paolo Ballesteros and Martin del Rosario. Rosanna Roces is cast as the mistress of John Arcilla’s character. She is the mother of the character of Christian Bables. According to Direk Jun Lana, all of the cast members are open to the idea of doing a sequel of “The Panti Sisters.”
Senator Risa Hontiveros, a known champion of the LGBTQ+ community, was one of the guests that night. (Pep.ph)
