BACOLOD City – A mother from Barangay Mabigo, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental was charged with parricide for allegedly killing her 7-year-old son.
Canlaon City police filed the case against the mother, who they detained at their station’s custodial facility.
The mother did not know why she killed her son but recalled how – by choking him using a belt – said Police Officer 2 Jenelyn Cobero, head of the Canlaon City police station’s Women and Children Protection Desk.
Cobero said the suspect placed the boy’s body in a sack before dumping it at the back of their house on Wednesday.
The suspect’s parents – the mother is a teacher and the father a farmer – found the body and reported to the police, said Cobero.
Her father who just arrived from the farm asked where the boy was but the suspect said her son was at the back of the house lifeless, police said.
While the suspect did not seem to have any unusual behavior, Cobero said they recommended that she undergo a psychiatric examination.
The mother was an overseas worker who arrived two months ago.
She was separated from her husband – the reason was not immediately known – with whom she had two children. The one killed was the younger child, said Cobero./PN
