THE wushu team from Passi City dominated the 4th Iloilo Congressional District Sports Association Meet 2018 with eight medals – including three golds – on Saturday in Anilao, Iloilo.
Netting gold medals for Passi were Ruel Panes and Joseph Vladimir Betita in elementary boys 42kg and 56kg, respectively, and Maeril Alarilla in elementary girls 45kg.
Princess Da-anoy (48kg) and Janella Pamonag (52kg) in the girls category and Jose Divine Palmes (45kg), John Lester Roquio (48kg) and Angelo Aguilar (48kg) in boys category bagged silver medals.
All the medal winners will advance to the Integrated Meet later this month.
“This is a huge achievement for the players, who worked hard day in and day out,” said Passi City Sports Development Officer III Randy Palomaria.
“They will now start preparing for the Integrated Meet, which will give them a chance to play in the Palarong Pambansa,” said the local government officer.
Meanwhile the Passi City team, represented by Assumption, settled for a runner-up finish in elementary basketball after losing to Barotac Viejo in the final round./PN
