MANILA – Maharlika FC is good to go for the upcoming Philippines Football League (PFL) season after being granted a provisionary license by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).
PFF Secretary General Ed Gastanes said the PFF Club Licensing First Instance Body has granted the request of Maharlika FC team owner Anton del Rosario for them to join the upcoming PFL season tentatively scheduled to start on October.
“With reference to Maharlika FC’s application for a license to participate in PFF Club competitions, please be advised that the PFF’s licensing body has decided to grant Maharlika FC a provisional license,” Gastanes said.
Maharlika FC, which previously competed in 7’s Football League, is led by Misagh Bahadoran, Simon Greatwich, Cedric Martinez-Hodreal, Joaco Canas, Enrique Ortiz, Jerry Barbaso, Daniel Matsunaga, Manu Mariano, and Julian Del Valle.
In the same statement, Gastanes also said that the PFF has slapped a 90-day suspension of Global FC’s license due to the club’s failure to settle its overdue payables to its employees.
Gastanes also warned the football club that the PFF will not think twice of revoking its license for good if it fails to settle its overdue payables within the given period.
Maharlika FC will be the sixth team in the PFL, joining United City Football Club, Kaya Futbol Club Iloilo, Mendiola 1991 FC, Stallion Laguna FC, and the Azkals Development Team./PN
