KALIBO, Aklan – The Aklan Police Provincial Office re-launched its Philippine National Police Interfaith Program.
The program supports the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) moral transformation initiative within the police organization and the community-based rehabilitation program designed for drug surrenderers.
The interfaith program has some 60 members with various religious affiliations in Aklan.
Pastor Nick Sajonia and Senior Superintendent Arnel Escobal, deputy regional director for administration of the PRO-6, led the re-launching at the Aklan Police Provincial Office’s multipurpose hall on Nov. 30.
Senior Superintendent John Mitchell Jamili, acting police director of Aklan, assured his office’s commitment to implement the interfaith program.
In Manila, Philippine National Police director general Ronald Dela Rosa warned rogue policemen their days are numbered.
“We will be relentless in our internal cleansing efforts. We have to eliminate scalawags from within our ranks,” Dela Rosa said in his strongly-worded message to the 160,000-strong national police force.
Also present during the re-launching were Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, PRO-6 spokesperson; the Aklan Police Provincial Office command staff; chiefs of police of Aklan’s 17 municipalities; and representatives of various religious denominations./PN
