ILOILO – The police chief of Barotac Nuevo town is worried. His police station could lose its power connection due to mounting unpaid electricity bills.
They have not paid Iloilo Electric Cooperative 2 (ILECO 2) for 10 months now, said Chief Inspector Raymund Celoso.
ILECO 2 gave the police station only until the end of this month to pay its arrears reaching P115,000.
The local government of Barotac Nuevo used to shoulder the police station’s electricity bills. When the station transferred to a new building, however, it stopped paying the bills, said Celoso.
Seven months ago when Celoso was appointed to head the Barotac Nuevo police force, the police station only had three months in unpaid electricity bills.
“We already informed our mayor about this,” said Celoso.
The mayor of Barotac Nuevo is Braeden John Biron, the 22-year-old son of Cong. Ferjenel Biron (4th District).
“I want to continue what my dad started and promote good governance,” said Biron, a graduating Entrepreneurial Management student at the University of Asia and the Pacific, in a previous interview.
He also vowed to continue the programs of his predecessor – this grandfather, former mayor Hernan Biron Sr.
“We are hoping that the local government of Barotac Nuevo would pay our electricity bills so we can work better,” said Celoso./PN
