‘Prices of chicken on steady decline’

MANILA – Laban Konsyumer, Inc. (LKI), a private-sector group advocating consumer rights, said on Tuesday that farm gate prices of chicken have gone on a steady decline in July.

In a Viber message, LKI president Vic Dimagiba said “farm gate prices of chicken shows continuous decline in July, and also the prevailing prices.”

As of July 26, the price of Off Size chicken has dipped to P84 per kilo, Regular to P84.67 per kilo and Prime to P81.58 per kilo, he revealed.

On July 12, Off Size was at P92 per kilo, Regular was at P91.50 per kilo, and Prime was at P96.86 per kilo, Dimagiba added.

Even earlier, on July 5, Off Size was at a high of P101 per kilo, Regular at P102 per kilo and Prime at P105 per kilo.

He said this data came directly from United Broiler Raisers Association president Elias Jose Inciong.

Meanwhile, the prevailing (retail) price of chicken has gone down to P150 per kilo as of July 25 from P170 per kilo in July 13 and P160 per kilo in July 5, the LKI president revealed, citing Philippine Statistics Authority data. (PNA)
