KALIBO, Aklan – Councilor Cynthia Dela Cruz urged the municipal health officials of this town to prioritize newborn screening.
“Local government units shall deliver programs and projects on primary, maternal and child health care. This includes the implementation of new born screening,” Dela Cruz said.
The health sector is a part of the ten-point socioeconomic agenda of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
Newborn screening involves taking of blood samples for screening.
Basic screening of five disorders costs P550 and P1,500 for the expanded screening of 29 disorders./PN
