PRO-6 nets over 9,000 grams of illegal drugs, 161 suspects in October

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized around 9,467 grams of illegal drugs during its relentless month-long antidrug campaign across Western Visayas.

From October 1 to 31, various units recovered approximately 5,821.41 grams of shabu, 3,645 grams of marijuana, and one gram of kush, and apprehended 51 high-value targets and 110 street-level suspects from a total of 127 operations.

Data showed that the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) recovered the biggest volume of illegal drugs totaling 2,333 grams of shabu and 60 grams of marijuana. It was followed by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) with 2,038 grams of shabu, one gram of kush and 3,580 grams of marijuana, and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6) with 1,070 grams of illegal drugs confiscated.

These quantities of illegal drugs, PRO-6 said, were seized through a series of coordinated, intelligence-based operations conducted across the region. These efforts included buy-bust operations and the implementation of search warrants, carried out in collaboration with local police units and the community.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan commended all unit commanders and their personnel: “This accomplishment reflects the unwavering dedication and commitment of our personnel in protecting communities from the threats posed by illegal drugs.”

He added: “We assure the public that we will remain steadfast in our mission and will continue to exert all efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the people of Western Visayas as we strive toward a drug-free community.”

The region’s top cop further urged the continued active involvement of local government units, barangay officials, and the community by staying vigilant and promptly reporting any suspicious activities within their areas./PN
