BACOLOD City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has given orders to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) to thoroughly investigate the murders of two barangay captains from the towns of Isabela and Calatrava.
During his visit at NOCPPO headquarters at Camp Alfredo Montelibano in Bacolod City yesterday, PRO-6 director Brigadier General Leo Francisco said he has given a directive to NOCPPO director Police Colonel Leo Pamittan to probe the incidents.
On August 24, Barangay Cabcab, Isabela captain Danilo Dautil was gunned down by two unidentified men as he was returning home.
Yesterday morning, at least 10 armed men broke into the house of Barangay Lalong, Calatrava captain Benjamin Javoc and shot him to death.
The suspects also allegedly robbed Javoc by taking his P20,000 cash.
So far in both instances, NOCPPO is suspecting the murders to be “insurgency-related.”
Francisco has also assured the public that they will release their findings to the investigation once they are available./PN
