MANILA – Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is qualified to run in the 2025 senatorial elections in light of the disqualification case filed against him.

According to Workers and Peasants Party president Atty. Mark Tolentino, the detained pastor has all the rights to run since he is not yet convicted from his cases.

“He has the qualifications to be a senator,” Tolentino said in an interview with Teleradyo Serbisyo. “As of now, wala pang conviction sa mga cases against sa kanya.”

“Hindi ako nagsasabi na inosente si Pastor, but he is innocent until proven otherwise,” he added. “Legally and morally able to run as a senator. Dami na niyang natulungan, how much more if nasa Senate na siya.”

On Wednesday, senatorial aspirant Sonny Matula filed a petition with the Commission of Elections to cancel the certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) issued to Quiboloy to run for senator under the Workers’ and Peasants’ Party.

Matula said Quiboloy’s CONA must be cancelled due to “material representation” and that he should be disqualified from the senatorial race as the WPP “faction” disowns pastor.

Tolentino, however, clarified that Matula and his fellow senatorial aspirants are running under the Workers Party Philippines and is not affiliated with the Workers and Peasants Party, where Quiboloy runs.

“This is the first time they filed COC as a senatorial candidate under the said unregistered party (Workers Party Philippines); They have no program of governance in the event they win,” Tolentino said.

“They failed to exercise their utmost vigilance in the protection of their candidacy. They are unable to conduct an election campaign due to their disorganized platform. And lastly, they failed to demonstrate seriousness in running for the office,” he added.

Tolentino reiterated: “Apollo Carreon Quiboloy is the sole official senatorial candidate of the duly registered Workers’ and Peasants’ Party in the Comelec.”/PN
