BACOLOD City – They have arrested an organizer of political group Kilusang Pagbabago (KP) based in Negros Oriental, the Leonardia Panaligan Command of the New People’s Army (NPA) said in a statement.

NPA spokesman Ka JB Regalado, in the March 17 statement, said their forces arrested the organizer in Sitio Punong, Barangay Trinidad, Guilhulngan City, Negros Oriental on March 13.

Regalado stressed that the organizer and her group has been under their surveillance.

According to him, the organizer is accused of swindling farmers in Guihulngan City by collecting a P240 membership fee for the KP.

The organizer has promised the farmers that if they join KP, they will get P10,000, Regalado added.

The name of the organizer was withheld pending verification.

After a two-hour interrogation, the organizer was released, Regalado said.

But prior to that, the organizer admitted that her group is connected to the Kagubak group, another Guihulngan City-based organization allegedly affiliated with military members who the NPA said were responsible for several murder cases in the area, the statement said.

The organizer added that the Kagubak group has lists of civilians who they identify as members of the NPA, Regalado stressed.

The group is “hunting” rebels in exchange of bounty, the NPA spokesman said./PN
