ILOILO City – The confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Region 6 rose to 324 yesterday with the addition of 17 more.
The new cases were mostly locally stranded individual (LSIs) and repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), data from the Department of Health (DOH) Western Visayas showed.
Two were healthcare workers – a doctor and a nurse.
DOH also reported six new recoveries yesterday. These were from Sagay, City Negros Occidental (Patient No. 136); Igbaras, Iloilo (Patient No. 148); Lambunao, Iloilo (Patient No. 151); Cauayan, Negros Occidental (Patient No. 154); Bacolod City (Patient No. 159); and Binalbagan, Negros Occidental (Patient No. 169).
According to Dr. Renilyn Reyes, head of DOH Region 6’s Public Health Program Development, these six brought to 132 the total number of patients who recovered from the disease, thus leaving the region with 181 actives cases as of yesterday (June 30), with 11 deaths.
