BACOLOD City – A man who claimed to be a Revolutionary Proletarian Army member was arrested at the barangay hall in Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Police found firearms and ammunition in the house of the 42-year-old Hipolito “Itok” Abad Jr.
Abad himself yielded a loaded .45-caliber 1911 STI Spartan 5 pistol without serial number during his arrest on Feb. 6, police said.
Police seized the following in Abad’s house: a Colt 45 (serial no. 397664) with a loaded magazine; three spare magazines; 78 bullets for the pistol; an improvised 12-gauge shotgun; two plastic packs of suspected shabu; and drug paraphernalia.
Abad claimed he was an RPA member, but investigation showed he was not, said Superintendent Rhea Santos.
Detained in the Kabankalan City police station, he was charged with violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act./PN
