BACOLOD City – Two men were injured in a shooting incident along the national highway in Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Chief Inspector Robert Mansueto, Sagay City police chief, identified them as the 29-year-old Junrey Longno and Regie Depenoso, 26. Both were residents of Barangay Rafaela Barrera, Sagay City.
Investigation revealed that Longno and Depenoso were having a drinking binge at CARS Video along with their four friends when three unidentified men came and bought cigarettes at the store.
An altercation followed but it was not immediately clear how it started.
The three unidentified men ran from the store and were chased by Longno and Depenoso’s group, police said.
About 10 meters from the store, the unidentified men were cornered. It was when another unidentified man on board a motorcycle came and opened fire at Longno and Depenoso’s group.
The shooting happened at around 9:50 p.m. on Nov. 7.
Longno sustained a gunshot wound on the head while Depenoso, gunshot wounds on the right chest and right shoulder.
They were rushed to the Lopez District Farmers Foundation Hospital.
Longno was later transferred to the Cadiz District Hospital while Depenoso to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City for further treatment.
