SAN JOSE, Antique – This capital town is gearing up for big events in December this year and in early 2017.
Sangguniang Bayan member Cris John Banusing urged local government workers to show visitors “true San Josenhon hospitality.”
Next month there will be the Christmas program Paskwa sa Banwa, which features contests in making Belens, lanterns and carols among the 28 barangays.
The provincial sports meet will be from Dec. 9 to 12, while Binirayan Festival will be on the last week of December, said Banusing.
Antique will also play host to the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet in February 2017 and, most important, the 60th Palarong Pambansa from April 23 to 28 of the same year.
The province won the bidding for the Palaro 2017 hosting last week.
Banusing urged the locals to cooperate and “serve with a smile.”
CICL CENTER
Banusing is now the town’s office-in-charge in the absence of Mayor Elmer Untaran, who is in Manila for a final briefing with executives from the Consuelo Foundation on the construction of a center for children in conflict with the law.
“In his (Untaran) absence, we have to be on our toes and prepare for the tasks assigned to us,” Banusing told town hall employees.
The center will be put up at Farmville in Barangay San Pedro.
Consuelo Foundation operates and supports programs in Hawaii and the Philippines that prevent and treat abuse, neglect and the exploitation of children, women and families. It is partly funding the center.
It was founded by Consuelo Zobel Alger, whose family also put up the Ayala Corp. (PNA)
