BACOLOD City – An estimated P400,000 worth of shabu was recovered in a buy-bust operation along Camias-Marapara Street in Barangay Villamonte.
The operation – which the Bacolod City Police Office-City Intelligence Unit (BCPO-CIU) staged – seized illegal drugs from Carla Umadhay and Romeo Gumban around 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Police found in Umadhay’s possession five big and 11 small sachets of suspected shabu and the P500 marked money.
Umadhay and Gumban were endorsed to the custody of Police Station 4 while the recovered items were placed in safekeeping of the BCPO-CIU.
The suspects were detained and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The recovery is the biggest so far in Bacolod in recent weeks after President Rodrigo Duterte allowed the Philippine National Police to resume its anti-drug operations.
A series of buy-bust operations conducted this month yielded only minimal volume of illegal drugs.
The latest yield in Bacolod came three days after about 593.5 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P6.8 million were seized in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental. (PNA/PN)
