ILOILO City – A farmer hacked a fellow farmer in Sitio Bugarot, Barangay Lacaron, Sibalom, Antique, a police report showed.
The victim, 49-year-old Petronilo Hantoc of the same village, died.
Suspect Aldrin Curacho, 38, of Sitio Langka, Barangay Lagdo, Sibalom was detained at the Sibalom police station.
Hantoc was at a sugarcane mill at around 6 p.m. on Jan. 29 when the allegedly drunken Curacho hacked the former “from behind” and “without any apparent reason and provocation,” the police report stated.
Hantoc was taken to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in the capital town of San Jose where he succumbed to a “fatal hack wound” while undergoing treatment, police said.
His remains were brought to a funeral home in Sibalom./PN
