ILOILO – A son of former San Dionisio mayor Peter Paul Lopez surrendered to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 6 (CIDG-6) on Friday.
Carlos Paul “Popoy” Lopez, 35, of Barangay Bagacay, San Dionisio faces murder and attempted murder charges.
The CIDG fetched him in Barangay Ermita, Dumangas, Iloilo at around 11 a.m.
Judge Jose Mauricio Gomez of the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Branch 71 (Barotac Viejo, Iloilo) issued an arrest warrant against the younger Lopez on April 28, 2022.
Carlos Paul was accused of shooting Zaldy Villanueva last year over a land dispute. A co-accused was Raffy Sorioso.
Sorioso surrendered to the CIDG on Monday but for another case – the murder of businesswoman Claire Diergos.
Sorioso and Lopez were now detained at the CIDG-6 cell. The court set to bail for their temporary liberty.
Like Sorioso, Lopez was also charged in the Diergos case but the complaint against him was dismissed for insufficient evidence.
Sorioso, on the other hand, was indicted./PN
