BACOLOD City – A man died after being shot in Hacienda Santo Rosario, Barangay Nabalian, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental. Police said the suspect was his son.
The 45-year-old resident Ricardo Garperio sustained a gunshot wound on the chest, a police report showed.
He was rushed to the Gov. Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City where attending physician Dr. Rhodora Jarbahal pronounced him “dead on arrival.”
Garperio, his 20-year-old son Rex and some of their relatives were having a drinking binge around 10:50 p.m. on Sunday when the shooting happened, police said.
According to investigators, Garperio provoked his son when he said: “To indi na bala pagpainuma bulong imo asawa para kakita man ko akon apo.”
Rex walk out and return wielding a .22 magnum revolver which he used to shoot his father, police said.
Officers from the Himamaylan police station caught Rex in a hot pursuit operation.
Rex was detained and will be facing a parricide charge, police said./PN
