BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) commended Task Group (TG) MassKara 2017 for its “exemplary efforts” in maintaining peace and order during the celebration of the 22-day MassKara Festival, which ended a week ago.
The SP acknowledged TG MassKara’s performance through a resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang.
The resolution was approved last week, Ang said.
Ang added that this year’s celebration of MassKara was “successful without major security issues.”
She attributed this to the “invaluable service” of security units under the TG MassKara, which was led by Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthrone Binag, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
PRO-6 has mobilized around 5,000 security personnel to secure MassKara Festival participants and visitors.
Ang, the SP committee on tourism chairwoman, also thanked all barangays that participated in the Electric MassKara Performing Floats Competition.
Ang said the contest is part of the annual highlights celebration of the MassKara Festival.
“The stunning and eye-catching floats together with the amazing synchronization of lights of all barangay participants truly made MassKara a world-class festival,” she added.
This year’s champion for the Electric MassKara Performing Floats Competition was Barangay 22, followed by Barangay 5 (first runner-up) and Barangay Singcang-Airport (second runner-up)./PN
