TEAMS from St. Paul School-Barotac Nuevo (SPS-BN) and Cabatuan gained early leads in the 1st Bga. Marianing Futsal Competition at the Iloilo National High School and the West Visayas State University covered gyms in Iloilo City.

SPS-BN B racked up victories in the first two days in the U-18 boys category with wins over Iloilo Christian School-Barotac Nuevo (ICS-BN) 4-0 and John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) 3-1.

SPS-BN A also showed the way with a 3-0 win over Leganes and a draw with SPS-BN C. It lost to Cabatuan 1-2. On the other hand, SPS-BN C drew with Jalandoni B and lost to Cabatuan 1-4.

Cabatuan, meanwhile, bagged two consecutive wins over SPS-BN C (4-1) and Leganes (4-2) while ICS-BN also scored victories over Iloilo National High School (INHS) A (3-1), JBLFMU (5-4) and Jalandoni A (3-1).

In the U-18 girls, SPS-BN captured three wins over Calinog (11-0), Guimaras (12-0) and Guimbal (2-0), while Calinog won over Santa Barbara (3-0) and drew with Guimbal.

Also with two wins on the distaff side were Tigbauan (1-0 over INHS and 2-0 over City High) and Barotac Nuevo National Comprehensive High School (2-0 over City High and 3-0 over INHS).

In the U-15 tournament, Central Philippine University won over Ateneo de Iloilo 2-1 before drawing with SPS-BN, while INHS split its matches with a win over ICNHS 3-0 and a loss to Guimbal 3-4.

A total of 27 teams in Iloilo city and province – 11 each in U-18 boys and girls, and six in U-15 –participated in the tournament organized by the Futsal Association of Region 6 and sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation./PN
