Stallion-Laguna blanks Air Force in PH Football

MANILA – Stallion-Laguna FC reclaimed the solo third place in the 2019 Philippines Football League standings after a 2-0 blanking of the Philippine Air Force FC at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa, Batangas.

Ilonggo Jan Jesus Melliza and Fitch Arboleda scored a conversion each.

Stallion-Laguna now has 28 points on eight wins, four draws and four defeats.

Melliza connected a header at the 14th minute for a 1-0 edge.

Air Force attempted to tie in the second half but an Arboleda hit at the 65th minute dashed the Airmen’s hopes.

With the defeat, the Philippine Air Force remained at sixth spot in the standings with eight points, on two victories, two deadlocks and 13 defeats.

Meanwhile, Stephen Appiah scored the go-ahead goal as the Green Archers United Globe FC cruised to a 2-1 victory over Mendiola 1991 FC.

After an exchange of goals between Green Archers’ Christian Zubiri and Mendiola 1991’s Jim Ashley Flores, Appiah broke the deadlock with a penalty kick by Appiah in the 69th minute.

With the victory, the Green Archers United is at fourth spot with 25 points, on seven wins, four draws and six defeats.

Mendiola 1991 is at fifth with 11 points, on three wins, two draws and 10 losses./PN
