BACOLOD City – Police and traffic authorities in this city were asked to strictly enforce the no-parking policy along Lacson and Araneta streets.

Councilor Caesar Distrito said the policy will prevent “double parking,” or the case of some vehicles pulling over right next to other vehicles already parked along the street.

The Bacolod City Police Office and the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office must enforce this policy from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Distrito said in a resolution the Sangguniang Panlungsod approved Wednesday.

The local government has the duty to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles on major streets as well as protect the lives and properties of the locals, the councilor said.

Distrito said the Sangguniang Panlungsod has identified portions of Lacson and Araneta streets as “No Parking Zones” from 7a.m. to 7 p.m.

The poor enforcement of the rule was causing vehicular congestion in these areas, he stressed.

“Traffic management requires the active cooperation of all traffic and law enforcers,” Distrito said./PN
