BACOLOD City – Two residents of Antique province were killed when a sugarcane-loaded cargo truck fell on them in Barangay Sto. Rosario, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
John Baldomar, 34, and Jonathan Pacete, 54 — both from Laua-an town — were taken to an infirmary in Binalbagan but were declared “dead on arrival.”
The cargo helpers were trying to replace the truck’s right rear tire that blew out on Thursday when the hydraulic jack loosened and slipped, causing the truck to fall on its side, police said.
All the 25 tons of sugarcane stalks loaded onto the truck were dumped on the victims, said the Binalbagan police.
The Isuzu cargo truck (plate number NBH-363) was registered to Joean Simillano, also of Laua-an, Antique, and driven by Pabol Jocsan, 28, of La Castellana, Negros Occidental, police investigation showed./PN
