MANILA – Cignal HD Spikers halted its four game slide in the 2019 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference with a 25-14, 25-22, 27-25 sweep over Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers on Saturday night at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.

Rachel Anne Daquis tallied 14 points to go along with 15 digs, while Alohi Robins-Hardy chipped in eight kills, four blocks, two aces and eight excellent sets as the HD Spikers moves up to 3-4 win-loss slate.

HD Spikers head coach Edgar Barroga hailed his players for regaining their form and tallying the much-needed win as they face defending champions Petron Blaze Spikers next week.

“We needed this win,” said Barroga. “We went through a difficult phase when we lost four straight matches. I must admit that it wasn’t easy. It’s hard to get to the gym to train. But now, I’m happy that we’re finally back.”

“We will celebrate this win, but we will get back on training immediately after,” he added. “After going through that losing streak, we learned a valuable lesson and we don’t want that to happen again.”

Judith Abil, who finished with 11 points, was the lone player to reach double digits for the newcomer Lady Skippers, which finished the first round without a single win to show./PN
