MANILA – F2 Logistics Cargo Movers halted its two-game slide with a 25-18, 25-14, 25-22 sweep of Cignal HD Spikers in the 2019 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Malolos, Bulacan.
Filipina-Hawaiian Kalei Mau top-scored with 20 points, on 16 attacks, two blocks and two aces on Tuesday night.
Mary Joy Baron and Victorinara Galang chipped in 14 and 10 markers, respectively.
For finishing at second place with 12-2 win-loss slate, the Cargo Movers set up a do-or-die quarterfinals match with No. 7 seed Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors this Saturday.
“‘Yung trust talaga ni Coach [Ramil De Jesus] sa amin, alam niya kasi na babawi kami from all the losses that we had. We prepared talaga for this game and lumabas naman ‘yung training namin,” Baron said.
From easy wins in the first two sets, the Cargo Movers were tested in the third frame after the HD Spikers forced a deadlock at 22-all before the former leaned on back-to-back hits by Galang and a block by Kim Dy to seal the win.
For the No. 5 seed HD Spikers, Rachel Anne Daquis tallied 14 points, on 12 attacks and two blocks, while Guimarasnon Jovelyn Gonzaga had nine.
The Spikers will face Generika-Ayala Lifesavers in the quarterfinals.
