Tamasak FC bags Biron Football Fest U-12 crown

BAROTAC NUEVO, Iloilo – Tamasak Football Club emerged as champions in the Under 12 category of the Mayor Bryant Paul Q. Biron Football Festival on Thursday at the Barotac Nuevo Football Field here.

The Francisco De Asis-mentored Tamasak FC bagged the U-12 category championship following a 2-0 triumph against Pike Braga Football Club in the finals.

Drystan Alexandrae Delgado-Torres drew first blood for the Tamasak FC in the opening half before Luke Gabriel Derotas sealed the championship with with a close-range shot.

It was a hard-earned championship for the Tamasak FC after being pushed to the limit by their opponents in the quarterfinals and the semifinals round.

In the round-of-8, Tamasak FC prevailed over JCFC via penalty shootout before also enduring the same outcome against the AgTuSo FC in the Final Four.

Aside from the two scorers, also part of the champion team were Michael Anthony Guay, Steven Gabriel Bingcang, Jeur Mattheiu Derotas, RJ Naysay, Von Adrian Guevarra, Rich Wayne Berdejo and Nolico Buenavista.

It was a double victory for the Tamasak team as their 5-6 age category squad, being handled by head coach Mai Mai Martinez, also emerged as champions in their division.

Apart from Barotac Nuevo teams, other football clubs from nearby Janiuay, Guimbal, Sta. Barbara, and La Paz district in Iloilo City also participated in the football festival.

This was the second football event organized in Barotac Nuevo following the Mayor Bryant Paul Q. Biron Inter-Barangay Football Tournament, where Barangay Ilaya Poblacion was hailed as the winner.

Placing runner up, as follows, were Barangay Tubungan, Barangay Tabuc-Suba and Barangay Ilaud Poblacion. Barangay Ilaya Poblacion was given the Fair Play award.

Individual awardees were Sherwin Basindahan as Most Valuable Player, Ronnie Panes Jr. as Best Goal Keeper, Abrielle Belgira as Best Defender, Martini Ray as Best Midfielder and Jan Bernard Delariarte as Best Striker./PN
