BACOLOD City – House Speaker Martin Romualdez rejected the request of Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo Teves for an extension of travel authority.
Teves traveled to the United States for medical treatment from Feb. 28 to March 9, based on his clearance.
Romualdez, in a statement, advised Teves to return as soon as possible, adding that the latter’s travel outside the country is no longer authorized by the House of Representatives.
He added that it would be better for Teves to return home so he could face the allegations against him.
On Friday, March 10, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Negros Oriental seized several firearms and explosives in the houses of Teves in a series of early morning raids.
Teves was tagged in several killings in Negros Oriental in 2019 and was named by one of the suspects as the alleged mastermind in the assassination of his political rival, Gov. Roel Degamo./PN
