IN A LANDMARK move to enhance the Philippines’ appeal as a premier destination for medical tourism, The Medical City (TMC) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) have entered into a significant partnership. The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was formalized at the Grand Hyatt Manila, setting a new standard for collaboration between public and private sectors in healthcare, last July 17, 2024.
The newly introduced ‘Discover Your Wellness’ initiative, part of DOT’s broader ‘Love the Philippines’ campaign, aims to seamlessly integrate exceptional healthcare with the country’s vibrant tourist attractions and cultural experiences. TMC, which has been DOT-accredited since 2008, annually serves nearly 20,000 international patients, solidifying its leadership in the medical tourism industry.
The ‘Discover Your Wellness’ series will be featured on both TMC’s and DOT’s digital channels, targeting a global audience in search of affordable, high-quality healthcare options.
Dr. Eugenio Jose F. Ramos, President and CEO of TMC, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are proud to collaborate in making world-class healthcare accessible while highlighting the exceptional offerings of the Philippines.”
DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco highlighted the importance of this collaboration, noting, “This partnership is pivotal in presenting the Philippines as a premier choice for medical tourism, blending outstanding healthcare with our renowned hospitality and stunning landscapes.”
The collaboration represents a groundbreaking effort to elevate the Philippines’ medical tourism sector by merging advanced healthcare services with the nation’s rich cultural and scenic assets./PN
