BACOLOD City — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) recorded three separate fire incidents in different barangays here on December 31, 2025, and in the early hours of January 1, 2026, leaving several structures damaged and one person injured.
According to the Bacolod City Fire Station, the first fire broke out at 8:37 a.m. on December 31 at Purok Riverside, Barangay Banago. The blaze involved a mercantile area and affected four structures — two commercial establishments and two single-storey buildings.
Firefighters raised a first alarm at 8:42 a.m., placed the fire under control at 8:50 a.m., and declared a “fire out” at 8:57 a.m.
One individual, identified as Prince Villarin, 24, sustained partial-thickness burns on both thighs, knees, and right lower leg. Fire damage was estimated at around P300,000.
Shortly after midnight on January 1, another fire erupted at 12:19 a.m. in Purok Christian, Barangay Bata. The residential fire affected three single-storey houses, two of which were totally damaged while one sustained partial damage.
The fire allegedly originated from the house of Daylin Gicaro and affected 16 individuals. Firefighters placed the blaze under control at 12:30 a.m. and declared a “fire out” at 12:39 a.m. Estimated damage was pegged at around P22,500.
Minutes later, at 12:23 a.m., a third fire was reported at Purok San Benito, Barangay Sum-ag, involving a single-storey house owned by John Tingson, and affected five individuals.
Firefighters arrived within seven minutes and immediately declared the fire out upon arrival at 12:31 a.m. Damage was estimated at about P1,000.
The BFP said investigations were ongoing to determine the causes of the incidents./PN
