ILOILO — A motorcycle rider died after he rammed an electric post in Barangay Cagamutan Norte, Leganes, Iloilo on Thursday afternoon, January 1.
Alias “Welmer,” a resident of Barangay Malunang, Zarraga town, sustained fatal head injury and fractured right arm. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital by the attending physician, Leganes police said.
According to Police Senior Master Sergeant Leo Barnuevo of the Leganes Municipal Police Station (MPS), the incident occurred at around 2:45 p.m. while the victim was en route to Zarraga.
Barnuevo said the victim came from a social gathering in Jaro, Iloilo City and was believed to be drunk.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses told the police that the motorcyclist was travelling at high speed and first hit the gutter before crashing into an electric post.
As of this writing, investigation into the incident was ongoing, with Leganes police examining the circumstances that led to the fatal incident./PN
