BACOLOD City – A father died while his two sons were injured when the motorcycle they were riding collided into a sport utility vehicle in Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
The tricycle and the Jeep Wrangler were running the opposite direction but the former swerved to the lane of the latter, initial police investigation showed.
The collision around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday killed the 31-year-old resident Ramon Mongcal, said Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez Jr., Himamaylan City police head.
Mongcal sustained head and body injuries. He was taken to the Lorenzo Zayco Memorial District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His injured sons – Ramon, 10, and Regie, 8 – were taken to the same hospital but later transferred to a Bacolod City hospital, police said.
Larry Bolo, 47, of Barangay Talubangi, Kabankalan City was driving the SUV.
He turned himself in to the Himamaylan City police and was hoping for a settlement with the victims’ family, Benitez said./PN
