CAPIZ – Two minors – one a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman – drowned in the waters of the coastal barangay of San Ramon in Pilar, Capiz over the weekend.
The SK chairman was Grjay Tumlos. The other minor was identified only as “Koykoy”, 14, of Barangay Hipona, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Both youngsters were declared dead on arrival at the Bailan District Hospital.
The two youngsters together with several relatives had a beach excursion on Sunday between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The SK chairman and Kokoy were swept away by strong waves while swimming.
Rescuers of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Bureau of Fire Protection of Pilar responded to the scene and applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the victims before they were brought to the hospital./PN
