MANILA – Ilongga Chrisann Susbilla had a rousing debut as the University of the East Junior Lady Warriors swept University of the Philippines Integrated School Junior Lady Maroons, 25-21, 25-20, 25-16 in the UAAP Season 82 girls volleyball at the Paco Arena.
Susbilla, a transferee from Central Philippine University high school volleyball team, top-scored with 19 points built on 12 spikes, six service aces and a block.
Aside from Susbilla, who was part of the WVPRISAA team that ruled the National PRISAA recently in Davao City, Lovelee Hernandez and Verenicce Colendra also contributed for the Junior Lady Warriors with six points each.
After easily winning the first two sets, the Junior Lady Warriors was held to an 11-all deadlock early in the third before unloading a 14-5 finishing kick, highlighted by four service aces.
“This win is a good start for the team since we are on a rebuilding stage. The only problem that we had is the jelling of my players on the court,” said Junior Lady Warriors head coach Ronwald Dimaculangan.
Dimaculangan said the 36 errors committed by the Junior Lady Warriors was an eyesore the team could improve on, considering this was their first tournament this year.
