KALIBO, Aklan – The Department of Education (DepEd) will provide an P8,160,000 fund for the ongoing rehabilitation of the 408 public schools affected by Typhoon Ursula in this province, according to Aklan Schools Division Superintendent Miguel Mac Aposin.

The budget is intended solely for minor repairs and cleaning of the school grounds affected by the typhoon.

All public elementary, secondary and integrated schools of this province, except for Secondary Implementing Units have been directed to claim a P20,000 funding each at the Aklan Division Office Budget Unit in Barangay Poblacion, Numancia not later than Feb. 24, 2020.

Public schools in the municipalities of Altavas, Balete, Banga, Libacao, Batan, Madalag, Kalibo, New Washington, Buruanga, Malay, Lezo, Malinao, Makato, Nabas, Tangalan, Numancia and Ibajay are the recipients of the Sub-Allotment Release Order Number OSEC-6-20-0020 dated Jan. 24.

Under the Division Memorandum No. 43 on Feb. 14, all schools mentioned will be allocated to cover the expenditures incurred. The budget will be release through reimbursement.

The typhoon that struck this province last Christmas badly damaged the buildings, windows, doors, roof, school furniture, computers and learning materials of the schools.(With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
