BACOLOD City – Police have yet to find out what triggered a man to fatally stab his older brother in Purok 2, Barangay Lina-on, Cuaayan City, Negros Occidental.

Chief Inspector Alan Gary Resuma, officer-in-charge of the Cauayan municipal police station, identified the man as the 38-year-old Freddie Tawtawan.

From what the police gathered so far, Tawtawan and his 44-year-old brother Jose were having a drinking binge at their friend Andrew Moradas’ house around 7 p.m. on Monday when the stabbing happened.

Jose sustained stab wounds on the neck and left chest, police said. He was rushed to the Cauayan District Hospital where the attending physician pronounced him “dead on arrival.”

Jose’s wife reported to the police around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Tawtawan was still at large as of this writing.

Police were still investigating./PN
