MY GOAL is to save the Filipino youth.
I guess on this one, the goal justifies the means.
It’s brutal.
But if you haven’t saved a youth in your life, just let me do my work.
I mean, if you were any better, you would already have done something to save them.
Because I am a writer, I use my words to do the job for me.
Warning: strong words (not that I haven’t used them here before), unconventional ways, and long, engaging reads.

Why teen smut writers, and their defenders, can’t win
By Peter Solis Nery

Yep. That’s the complete title, and thesis, of this piece.
First, the seven triggering Facebook posts on January 22, 2021:
1. Maraming aminado na smut writers sila. May pagmamalaki pa. Lord, they know exactly what schmutzen they’re doing.
2. Stories na may “Errors ahead” disclaimer. Why even write if you deny responsibility? Lord, they know what they’re doing!
3. Smut writers na virgin daw. Mga pokpok! Lord, they know exactly what stupidity in their dirty minds they are doing.
4. “Smut” comes from German, meaning “to corrupt.” Lord, they know exactly what evil they do even if they’re so bobo.
5. Alam mong bobo ka if you can find goodness in writing smut. Gipit o pressured, oo; pero kailanman, di matalino.
6. Wish ko for teenage smut writers: mabulok sana mga pekpek n’yo; umurong mga titi n’yo. Curse you for corrupting the mind of your peers!
7. Ang mag-justify ng teenage smut writing, ‘yong ipaglalaban ito, I wish tamaan ng deadly COVID. Pati family nila.

1. I’m a sex positive person. I want people to enjoy great consensual sex. I encourage masturbation if that’s what you want. I hate the demonization of sex. Hindi po nakakabulag ang masturbation. Hindi po masama ang sex. Hindi po kayo pupunta sa impiyerno if you masturbate. Sex is one of the greatest pleasures God has given us.

2. I’ve read smut since I was a teenager. I wrote some smuttish writings when I was in my 20s. I was trying to push my literary limits. Today, I enjoy smut once in a while. I buy smut. I’m 52, I’m an adult. There is nothing wrong with smut among adults who understand their choices.

3. In its most basic sense, ‘to smut’ means “to defile, to corrupt, to dirty, to stain, to make obscene, to darken.” Think soot, think smudging, think of the fungal disease. Written smut is pornography. If you do not understand that, you will not understand anything else after this sentence.
*
4. Society allows pornography (paano na lang ako kapag ipinagbawal ‘yan?), but with certain age restrictions. Bakit kaya? If you do not know that, or cannot see the reason kung bakit bawal ang minor, you will not understand anything else after this sentence.
*
5. I suggest people read some pornography sometime in their lives: after they become legal for it (18 din ba sa Pinas?), and before they die. Just to see if they like it or not. I’m all for trying everything at least once.
*
6. In the world’s most civilized societies, pornography was defined to distinguish it from literature. So, if you are educated, or at least well read, you would know that it always has been “pornography versus literature.” In common people’s language, “Pornographic literature is not literature; it is not art; it is just pornography.” (I still love pornography!) If you cannot understand the distinction, you will not understand anything else after this sentence.

7. I do not endorse smut writing (and smut reading) among teenagers. I condemn it in the strongest words possible. Kung ayaw manindigan ng simbahan, ng lipunan, ng ibang writers, sa kanila na iyon. But as #ThePSN of Philippine Literature, that is my position. You may disagree with me, and I’m okay with that. You can disagree with me all you want, and I will just ignore you. You cannot argue with me about my condemnation of teenage smut writing. It is my philosophy that teens (minors) must not be corrupted that way. For me, until you are of legal age, you are just a child. I have worked with UNICEF country program for the Philippines in the 1990s so I will not argue with you. Read, step up, grow up. And pray!
