ILOILO City – A 64-year-old woman was arrested on Monday in Barangay Benedicto, Jaro district. Police chanced upon her collecting bets for the illegal numbers game “bookies.”
Ma. Luisa Gumban, a resident of the village, yielded several gambling paraphernalia and P155 bet money, a police report showed.
She was arrested around 4:30 p.m. and brought to the Jaro police station.
Charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling would be filed against her./PN
